The Searcy Fire Department (SFD) was unanimously awarded Accredited Agency Status by the Commission of Fire Accreditation (CFAI) at the Center for Public Safety Excellence Commission hearings in Orlando, Florida, on March 10, 2009. The SFD is one of approximately 130 agencies worldwide to obtain CFAI Accredited Agency Status. Searcy Fire Chief Bill Balridge was present for the award, along with Chief Terry Lewis, from the Henderson, Kentucky Department. Chief Lewis was the team leader of the 4-person peer-assessment group that evaluated the SFD, in October 2008. Searcy Fire Chief Bill Baldridge credits his department's tenacious attitude and the City of Searcy for their support in achieving this important milestone. "We are fortunate to have a great group of men and women who spent countless hours completing all of the core compentencies and other requirments to get us to this point. Our Mayor and City Council have been very supportitive, as well." |
